Report: Cardinals began shopping Rosen minutes before draft, wanted 1st-rounder - theScore

Although the Arizona Cardinals knew they were taking quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall selection, they only began shopping Josh Rosen in earnest minutes before Thursday's NFL draft started, a source told Sports Illustrated's Robert Klemko.

Arizona was seeking a first-round pick in return for the 22-year-old, Klemko added, a price no team was willing to pay.

The New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and Washington Redskins were all reportedly in the mix for the quarterback. But the Giants opted to draft Daniel Jones sixth overall and the Redskins nabbed Dwayne Haskins with the 15th selection.

Rosen's agent informed him of the Cardinals' intention to select Murray moments before the pick was announced, according to Klemko. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury called the UCLA product a few minutes later.

Rosen unfollowed the Cardinals on social media on Friday, according to Rapoport.

Miami is currently seen as the front-runner to land Rosen and has been working on acquiring the quarterback for weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Amid the rumors he was going to be replaced, Rosen said he intended to "prove (the Cardinals) wrong" if they went in another direction at quarterback.

Arizona took Rosen 10th overall in last year's draft. He threw for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 13 starts last season.
