Another outbreak declared at Bradford Valley Care Community - BarrieToday

Early Wednesday evening, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak at Bradford Valley Care Community long-term care home in the Simcoe unit.

An outbreak is declared when there is at least one case present in a staff or resident.

Sienna Living confirmed that a team member tested positive for the virus as part of the residence's routine testing. The team member last worked at the facility on Oct. 5. and is currently at home in isolation.

All residents in the Simcoe home area will remain in their rooms and receive tray service for their meals.

All staff are wearing full personal protective equipment for droplet and contact precautions.

As a result, Bradford Valley is no longer permitting general family visits and any non-essential resident outings for the entire residence.

"The team at Bradford Valley is doing a tremendous job in managing the situation. They are highly skilled in infection control practices and are working closely with public health to ensure all proper precautions and directives are in place," read a statement from Sienna Living.

Bradford Valley experienced a previous COVID outbreak in the spring. The 246-bed facility saw 42 positive cases, including 35 residents and 11 staff. Twelve residents died before the outbreak was declared over on May 20.
