TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Transfer
The Montreal Impact on Wednesday made official what had been expected according to multiple media reports in Canada, announcing the transfer of center back Zakaria Diallo back to France after two seasons in MLS.
RC Lens is the destination. Although official terms were not disclosed, the Ligue 2 club apparently ready to pay a transfer fee of around US$150,000 in order to bring in Diallo now for the start of their season rather than waiting until his current contract with the Impact runs out at the end of the year.
One of the French second flight's bigger clubs, Lens narrowly missed out on promotion to Ligue 1 last season after falling to Dijon in the final of the promotion playoff.
After missing the entirety of the 2018 season due to a serious Achilles tendon injury sustained during preseason, Diallo, who turned 33 this week, has started all but three of IMFC's league matches this year, scoring three goals and two assists.
