Report: Brown to return to Raiders today - TSN

Antonio Brown returned to Oakland Raiders' camp on Tuesday after losing a grievance to wear his own helmet which doesn't meet the NFL's safety regulations.

Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, spoke with reporters Tuesday upon his return, saying he is committed to the Raiders and never seriously considered retiring over not being able to wear a helmet deemed unsafe by the league.

“I don’t think there was ever any legitimacy to the retirement talk," Rosenhaus said, adding Brown is in the process of finding a new helmet that falls under the league's requirements.

“We’ve located helmets that have been manufactured within the past 10 years," Rosenhaus said. “Hopefully we’re going to get this behind us soon.”

Head coach Jon Gruden said emphatically that Brown would be ready for Week 1.

As for the foot issue holding Brown out of practice, Rosenhaus said he could not comment on how the injury happened because of a possible "legal process" against the cryotherapy company Brown reportedly suffered frost bite at.

Brown has been away from the team and originally threatened to walk away from football over the issue, but confirmed on Instagram Monday he would return to the team despite not being allowed to wear the helmet deemed unsafe by the league.

"While I disagree with the arbitrator's decision, I'm working on getting back to full health and looking forward to rejoining my teammates on the field. I'm excited about this season appreciate all the concerns about my feet," he wrote.

Brown continued his quest for a comfortable helmet Tuesday on Twitter.

"I'm looking for a Schutt Air Advantage Adult large helmet that was manufactured in 2010 or after. In exchange I will trade a signed practice worn Raiders helmet," Brown tweeted Tuesday morning.

Brown believes the new helmet that the rules mandate he wears protrudes out and interferes with his vision as he tries to catch footballs, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported last week.

In a large Twitter thread, NFL.com's Michael Silver detailed Brown's issue with the helmets, reporting the 31-year-old receiver tried to sneak his old helmet onto the practice field a number of times during OTAs, even painting it to mimic the Raiders' silver and black.

The Raiders acquired the four-time All-Pro from the Steelers during the off-season after a public feud with the organization. The 31-year-old is a veteran of nine NFL seasons.
