Montreal is back at home for a few games before heading out on a road trip to end the month of October. The San Jose Sharks will be the first opponent, with the Bell Centre being their second stop on an eight-day tour through much of the Atlantic Division.

After a terrible start, the Sharks are beginning to find some offence, and compiling a few points as a result. They have taken seven of the 10 points available to them in the last five games, with the most recent coming via overtime defeat at the hands of the NHL’s top club, the Buffalo Sabres.

That game saw three players, Dylan Gambrell, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, and Erik Karlsson get their first goals of the year. As is the case in Montreal, scoring has been done by committee, with Evander Kane leading the way with four tallies.

The Canadiens have three players at that mark, and one of them, Joel Armia, will be back in the lineup after missing the two games on the weekend road trip. His return will be welcomed, and perhaps felt most on the penalty kill, where he’s been a dangerous offensive option so far.

He also has a new role this evening complementing the playmaking of Max Domi and Jonathan Drouin. A bit of a change in lines has followed the three-day rest period the Canadiens received, and there’s a chance for Armia to boost his totals even higher with a good outing for the second line tonight.

Armia’s return will come at the expense of Jordan Weal, who will be a healthy scratch for the second time this season. On defence, Claude Julien is going with the same six he used in Minnesota on Sunday, so it’s a fifth NHL game for Cale Fleury as he seeks his first NHL point.
