Toronto FC fall short in 2019 MLS Cup Final vs. Seattle Sounders - Waking The Red

TORONTO, Ont.— Despite a valiant first-half effort, Toronto FC fell short to the eventual 2019 MLS Cup Champions Seattle Sounders FC 3-1 Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

Seattle manged to score three goals in the second half, en route to clinching their second league title in four seasons, putting a stamp on their recent reign over MLS.

Jozy Altidore, who entered the match in the 68th minute after missing the entire post-season for Toronto FC, pulled one goal back for the Reds late in injury time — a consolation marker for TFC at best.

Also with the loss, Toronto FC Captain Michael Bradley’s contract will indeed expire at the end of the season after the Reds failed to pick up the victory.

If TFC did manage to pull out the win on Sunday, it would have automatically triggered a one-year $6.5 million contract extension for the TFC skipper. However, as it stands, the American will be without a contract heading into 2020.

More to come...
