Whether we continue to work from home once the COVID-19 crisis has ended is a question that evenly divides those who are doing the working, a study by a Université de Montréal researcher suggests.
A survey of 1,614 respondents by Tania Saba, a professor at the university’s École de relations industrielles, found that 39 per cent of those polled were ready to work from their homes on a permanent basis while 37 per cent wanted to get back to the office.

Will working from home outlast the COVID-19 crisis? Back to video
The average age of the respondents was 40.
Saba was interested in how the millions of people suddenly finding themselves compelled to work from home were dealing with the situation.
The survey, conducted April 4-17, questioned workers mostly in Quebec but elsewhere in Canada as well.
While 24 per cent of those polled were undecided, those respondents who favoured working out of their homes tended to be older and have more family obligations. Their opinion was divided equally between male and female respondents.
