Scientists find huge, unidentified structures near the center of the Earth - DailyHover

The dense platforms discovered thanks to a system of algorithms between the mantle and the Earth’s core surprised researchers with their enormous dimensions. American scientists discovered two huge structures made up of dense material located about 3,000 kilometers below our feet, deep in the Earth. The discovery of this mysterious phenomenon in the bowels of the planet was made thanks to a series of algorithms collected in a system called Sequencer and constitutes a “huge anomaly” never before detected.

The discovery was made by scientists at the University of Maryland and published last Friday in the journal Science. There, the researchers reported that the system that was used for this detection was originally developed to analyze distant galaxies, but it ended up revealing a mystery inside the Earth. What they called “very large anomalies” were detected, one below the Marquesas Islands, a volcanic archipelago located in French Polynesia. And the other, of similar structure, below Hawaii. The latter turned out to be more vast than scientists originally assumed.

This system allowed the analysis of 7000 measurements of earthquakes, each with a magnitude of at least 6.5 points, that occurred in the underground world below the Pacific in the last 30 years. Earthquakes generate seismic waves below the Earth’s surface that travel thousands of kilometers. When waves encounter changes in rock density, temperature, or composition, they change speed, bend, or scatter, producing detectable echoes.
