Boeser, Fantenberg in concussion protocol - TSN

The Canucks skated for just under an hour at 8-Rinks on Tuesday morning. Neither Brock Boeser nor Oscar Fantenberg took part. Both are in concussion protocol after sustaining head injuries in last night's 6-4 win over Ottawa in Abbotsford. Boeser was hit heavily into the side boards by Sens forward Chris Tierney in the third period. He stayed in the game for a while but left with three minutes to play and was not available to the media afterward as he was receiving medical treatment.

Boeser was at 8-Rinks on Tuesday with the team again receiving treatment and, per team policy, was not made available to the media. Concussion protocol means he will be under observation for at least one week. The Canucks open the regular season next Wednesday October 2nd in Edmonton.

In his short NHL history, Boeser has had back, wrist and groin injuries and has now suffered what is believed to be his first concussion since joining the Canucks.

Other news today: Micheal Ferland rejoined the team after missing the past three days with the flu. While he didn't have a practice line of his own to skate on today, he is expected to play in at least one of the two remaining preseason games. Of note today, Nikolay Goldobin, Adam Gaudette and Zack MacEwen all skated in a small second group after the main group had cleared the ice. Ferland stuck around and was part of that group as well.

The Canucks host Ottawa Wednesday night and Arizona on Thursday.
